John J. Grenham

John J. Grenham died March 31 at his Southold home. The former resident of West Hempstead and Garden City was 85.

Mr. Greenham was born May 28, 1928, in Brooklyn to Joseph and Helen Grenham. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he was employed by New York Police Department and was head of security at Fidelity (formerly known as Astoria Federal).

He was a member of many organizations, including Long Island Fraud and Forgery Association, Loyal Order of Moose, Southold Project in Aquaculture Training (SPAT), Knights of Columbus, Marian Council, the American Legion in Southold and North Fork Italian American Club.

Family members said Mr. Grenham enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening and dancing. He also loved spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Eileen in 1993 and is survived by his current wife, Betty, whom he married in 2001 in Garden City. Mr. Grenham was also survied by his children, Brenda Eisenbraun of Port Jefferson, Jay of Merrick, Debbie Boylan of Massapequa; his sister, Florence Schroka of North Carolina and three grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, April 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A funeral service will take place Friday, April 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick R.C. Church in Southold. Interment will take place at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.

Memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
