GIANNA VOLPE PHOTO | Emergency response personnel attend to the driver following Friday’s one-vehicle crash in Mattituck.
A single car accident sent one man to the hospital Friday afternoon after his car veered off Main Road in Mattituck and slammed into the side of a candy and gift shop, Southold Police said.
Police said the driver of an eastbound Saturn sedan knocked over a metal light pole and a gasoline price sign at the Hess station at the corner of Beach lane before hitting the west side of the Sweets Unlimited shop at about 3 p.m.
Although it appeared the driver did not suffer major injuries, he was taken to an area hospital, police said.
Police have yet to determine the cause of the crash.
