A Mastic Beach man was arrested in Greenport after officers smelled marijuana coming from inside his vehicle early Tuesday morning, police said.
Southold Town Police say they noticed a suspiciously parked vehicle on Ludlum Place about 2:15 a.m., when they found Ralph Mims III inside.
While interviewing Mr. Mims, who previously lived in Greenport and East Marion, a smell of marijuana was found coming from inside the vehicle, police said.
Upon a search, two bags of marijuana were found inside Mr. Mims’ wallet, officers said. He was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, processed and released on an appearance ticket for a later court date, a report said.
This is not Mr. Mims first run in with Southold Town police: Last July, Mr. Mims, 35, was found driving with a suspended license and in early August he attempted to evade police after officers noticed his vehicle’s plates did not match the registration, police said.
