Southold Town Zoning Board member James Dinizio, a registered Conservative, could be appointed tonight to fill former councilman Al Krupski’s seat on the Town Board.
Mr. Dinizio, a Greenport resident who runs Sterling Communications, a burglar alarm company, said Tuesday afternoon that he’d received a call in the morning saying he was slated to be named to the post. His name appears in the resolution to be voted on during this evening’s meeting.
With Mr. Krupski now serving in the Suffolk County Legislature, the current Town Board is all Republican.
He’s taking a cautious approach to the appointment. “I’m not convinced yet until it happens,” he said.
Mr. Dinizio said he’s been involved with town government for 25 years, on and off, as a zoning board member. He served on the ZBA during the tenure of former supervisor Josh Horton.
“I have some very intimate observations about Town Hall,” he said. “I felt maybe I could give a hand and make things more organized.”
The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
